About

Passion. Experience. Diligence.

History

The Investor Advisory Group was founded by Erskine Harkey right after the market crash of 1987.  Erskine realized there was an opportunity to provide reassurance and stability while many investors were still reeling during the aftermath of the market volatility.

After many years of experience with BarclaysAmericanCorporation (now Barclays), Sam Bomar partnered with Erskine in 1992.  They both shared a similar vision: that high-quality investment management and advice didn't have to be accompanied by high-cost management and trading fees.  The two were early adopters of many strategies common today such as utilization of no-load fund and accepting no sales commissions on product recommendations, in addition to being some of the first managers to employ the now well-known low-cost tax-efficient exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

In 2005, David Barwick joined the Investor Advisory Group as an agent for the firm.  Dave had previously worked for 30 years with First Union and Wachovia.  With his background at the bank and with his certification as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Dave was an instant asset for the group. Several years later, Ed Jackson came on board after an extensive career in public accounting and private legal practice.  Having Ed's experience as an attorney and accountant has given the firm an improved ability to coordinate with a client's other advisers.

The latest addition for the firm is Robert Jones who, after graduating from Clemson University, spent several years with the Vanguard Group prior to being connected with The Investor Advisory Group.  Together our team brings an exceptional level of enthusiasm, dedication, and nuanced perspective to each client interaction which makes our firm the ideal solution for investors.
